Re:Gay Rights Approved - 2005/12/20 20:18OK...am I the only one who doesn't get why this is being called a gay rights ordinance? Don't get me wrong. I'm elated the proposition passed and I agree with friends who say it's good to have the word "GAY" plastered in the paper and become more visible. I'm all for that. But in this particular instance adding "sexual orientation" doesn't ONLY mean protection for the LGBT community. It also means protection for the straight community, too. Without that phrase, "sexual orientation", straight people were vulnerable to being fired and evicted, too. This is a proud day for Equality all the way around. But that's just how my mind works.
